Ìgbò Language

Ìgbò people live in southeastern Nigeria and speak Ìgbò, a language of the Benue-Congo branch of the Niger-Congo language family. Ìgbò may be grouped into the following main cultural divisions: northern, southern, western, eastern or Cross River, and northeastern.

With a population of around 40 million throughout Nigeria, they are one of the biggest and most influential tribes. Ìgbòs are well-known for their entrepreneurial endeavours, both within Nigeria and around the world.
Central Ìgbò, the dialect form gaining widest acceptance, is based on the dialects of two members of the Ezinifite group of Ìgbò in Central Owerri Province between the towns of Owerri and Umuahia in Eastern Nigeria.
